Vaitheeswaran is a Hindu temple which is dedicated to lord shiva. This temple is located in Tamil Nadu. Shiva is known as the “god of healing”.

It was believed that whosoever prayed to Vaitheeswaran with full honesty their diseases could be healed. This temple is considered one of the Navagraha temples which is associated with the planet Mars.


Architecture:


Vaitheeswaran temple Kumbakonam has many mandapams and 4 rajagopuram. The structure of the temple is made in such a way that the western tower allows the rays of the sun to fall on Shiva lingam just for a few days every year. The temple covers almost 10.7 acres of land. Other than lord shiva the sanctum has Nataraja, Durga, Surya, and many more. You would be able to see the separate idol of Chevvai. It is present in 2 forms. One is Utsavar which can only be seen during the festivals and the other one is Moolavar which is placed permanently on the eastern side of Praharam. The Utsava murti which is mounted on a goat is taken on the eastern side of Praharam. The Utsava murti which is mounted on a goat is taken out every Tuesday. 18 holy Siddhas belong to this temple which is named ‘Dhanvantari”.


Conclusion:


Vaitheeswaran Koli temple is one of the famous temples of lord shiva and it is believed that whoever prays with honesty their diseases are cured. It has a western look and the pillars are made in such a way that the light of the sun falls on the shivling every year for a few days.
