The best and worst times to go grocery shopping?

When it comes to grocery shopping, we always have a goal in mind—we want to buy the best and cheapest stuff on the list…and the fastest. During my time working in a supermarket, I've learned that some people absolutely adore shopping for groceries—they love the interaction with other people, and they love wandering around the aisles, comparing products. They consider it an experience.

Best and Worst time

1. The best time to go grocery shopping is to the stores open at 5am early in the morning, before 8 a.m. According to a survey by the National Grocers Association, this is when shoppers find the least amount of people in their way.

2. The worst time to go grocery shopping is on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons when most people are out running errands and going out for dinner or drinks with friends, according to NGA's survey.

3. Most stores are open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., but some are even open 24 hours a day, seven days a week — including Walmart, which has 2,300 locations nationwide that sell groceries and other products such as clothing and electronics."

Conclusion

If planning to shop when traffic is lighter, you've likely identified the best days to shop. Shopping during lunch hours, however, isn't such a great idea since many of your competitors will be out then as well. If you do shop while others are eating, make sure you get in line before people start buying their food. It is also worth remembering that weekends are not necessarily the best time to go grocery shopping because many people make weekend grocery trips too. If there's a time to go shopping for food, it's probably Monday night or Tuesday morning, both of which have less traffic than other parts of the week.
